“My clients took me along, while ascending professionally,” said Mr S. Jack, STB’s Singapore Service Star awardee in 2009. The internationally famous Brain Child of Jack Custom Tailors established his second shop at the prestigious Raffles Hotel Arcade some years ago, while dressing celebrities to perfection over the last two decades.
These included royalty, actors, diplomats. And many fellow-Singaporeans – for whom he packaged softness and freedom of movement in their individually designed suits and dresses. He did the same for Olympics office-bearers meeting in Singapore in 2005, and was interviewed by BBC in the same year.
Discovering his passion early in life, the former office-boy and in-house salesman now promotes world-wide his unique style using quality fabrics. “For moving ahead” said the authorized tailor for established brands like Ermenegildo Zegna, F.LLI Cerruti Dal 1881, Holland & Sherry, Scabal and Valentino.
His professionalism is given full scope by his bespoke craftsmanship, dedicated after-sales, sartorial passion, a London University Business Diploma – and training at London's famous Saville Row.
Complimenting, Mr S. Iswaran, the Senior Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Education, said he was “professional, courteous, attentive, taking great pride in his skills, evident in the suits he makes and the service he renders." His proudest moment, however, came when a blind violin player praised his suits as “comfortable and fitting like a glove.”
Even as renowned clientele head for his two shops, the bigger and luxurious one #02-32 Raffles Hotel Arcade, clients periodically invite him abroad to make their clothes. Concurrently, to remain trendy in this line, with Sheila, his wife, he attends events like the New York Fashion Week, in addition to the Singapore Fashion Festivals.
“My sartorial journey, though long and hard is immensely satisfying and rewarding,” said the Singapore Retailers Association, and Singapore Master Tailors Association member, featured in 2003 in the prestigious U.K. Travel Mail.
